Aspiring Writer

​You should see the way your body twitches when you speak. The movements are sometimes subtle but often pronounced. You are desperately trying to find a way to be comfortable at the table. To be seen at the table is to leave with a respect or a dignity that will spotlight magnetic individuality. 

I was you. Or, should I say, I am you.

But, when the exact words are delivered using the tips of your fingers or the pinpoint of your thumbs, you provide them effortlessly. The phrases flow from a compelling brain with complete confidence and enthusiasm. A picture of your wants and needs comes to life with the thrill and sadness of the aspiring young writer that you are. 

I often go back to read your package of words, scanning them for something I might have missed. For, I know that you are more than usual- an extraordinary person is sitting behind that illuminated screen. It is a shy, reclused formation that hasn't entirely accepted itself because it is still developing its voice. But boy does it talk! Capitalizing on every moment to gather more information, find the connection, or push beyond its comfort zone.

And so I scream to the universe to let you be! So that all that is in you will grow in its own time. Besides, what does the world know about what you need? Who even knows you as half as well as you? When time stops for no one and death is constant beyond all love, what have we to lose by stealing every moment of pleasure, satisfaction, and contentedness?

Write. 

You were a child of circumstance, duty, or maybe even love. And you grew in the shadows of those presumably bigger, more able, or with something better to offer than words. But, it will be your words that save you. It will be your words that protect us.
